With a downstairs master suite and two upstairs bedrooms, two new parents, their mother-in-law and a baby needed more room to grow. “They were thinking if we have more kids we want to be closer to them on the same level, and the mother-in-law can still live downstairs and have her own room,” explained designer Ayesha Sikander, owner and principal designer of MA Dimensions.
Following along the lines of the home’s current style, Sikander grounded the design with large, white glass tiles to cover the walls. A metal trim wraps around the walls to accent the white, while a section of black-and-white tile provides a focal point upon entry.
A light gray, oak veneer makes up the vanity, which is topped with quartz countertops and vessel sinks. “We got lucky and found something that really worked and has a nice gray and brown tone to it,” said Sikander.
The tub’s statuarietto marble surround suits the palette. “I really wanted to use something to give it more of a classic look within the modern and contemporary theme of things,” said Sikander. Set along a slightly curved wall, the shower has a mosaic of the same small, black-in-white tile to fit the odd angle.
“I think we got what we wanted, in that what we had in mind with that curved wall actually happened,” said Sikander. “There were a lot of issues, but since that was the most difficult part, I’m proud of what we achieved.”
