This Tudor-style home in the affluent Old Palo Alto neighborhood in California’s Silicon Valley suffered from an outdated design and a small layout. Designer Lindsay Chambers of Los Angeles-based Lindsay Chambers Design stepped in to help her clients, a technology executive and a graphic designer, find the classic spa they were looking for.

After doubling the bathroom to 150 square feet, the design team could take advantage of natural light and heightened ceilings.

To reference the Tudor-style architecture of the home and the nearby master bedroom, Chambers added a dropped dormer ceiling covered in rift-sawn white oak panels.

“We gave [the tub] prominence by centering it under a window and the peaks of the dormer ceiling,” said Chambers.

Crème marble and light coloring make the space feel airy and spa-like, which was a main goal for the clients. Features like a steam shower and heated floors add to the luxurious feel.
