A New Flow
One Cape Cod-style home outside of Washington, D.C., needed an update, but the homeowners were against changing anything on the exterior architecture. This presented a challenge for project manager John Fowler of North Potomac, Md.-based Glickman Design Build, who led the whole-house remodel.
A larger kitchen in the home’s current footprint would have been very narrow, so the kitchen was moved to the other side of the home. From there, the design team established a more open floor plan that included a bar area.
The blue glass subway tile backsplash makes the kitchen stand out, and the simple white cabinetry keeps the bright color from overwhelming the space.
In the master bath, the goal was to create a space to which the couple could escape . For this modern, spa-like look, the team used white and muted blue hues.
The matte subway tile along the shower walls allows the blue mosaic tile to be the eye-catching feature.
