Designer Sandra Espinet affronted both a small budget and a dated look for a Mexican kitchen redesign. “I decided to make it palatable for anyone,” said Espinet.
The previous space sported dated white countertops, faded cabinetry and a side counter.
Materials such as locally made alder wood cabinets and granite countertops cut down on price. “You have to know your area and your sources,” Espinet advised.
The simple backsplash provides a neutral background workable with most palettes. “There’s no fussiness,” said Espinet. “The backsplash isn’t too specific, so this helps when guests come in.”
A palette inspired by a nearby mountain swathes the kitchen and adjoining living space in cream, taupe and burnt orange. ““It turned out a little bit of California, with touches of Mexico,” said Espinet.
