Cabinetry Plus faced a unique design brief when crafting the kitchen of a Wisconsin homebuilder. “He wanted to make it feel like you were walking through cabinetry,” said designer Dale Kufahl. For this look, the doorways tie into the cabinets with panelized, inset fronts and add to the home’s arts-and-crafts style with mitered detailing.
Butternut wood cabinets surround the kitchen, and the drawer-front style boasts a simple look with its bead-front molding on the outside edge. To introduce another color in the kitchen, the island was stained a darker color than the medium, warm stain on the perimeter cabinets.
“We made the island as large as we felt we could and still have adequate space in the kitchen,” explained Kufahl. “The key to that was providing the room for her and the kids.” Tucked under the island is a central vacuum system.
The blue hood and tile backsplash give the kitchen its focal point. Next to the hood, open shelving continues the extended cabinetry. “That was the fun part on how to tie it all together,” commented Kufahl.
