Outside of Tucson, Ariz., a picturesque desert setting inspires a community of modern homes. Designer Lori Carroll of Tucson-based Lori Carroll and Associates outfitted the interior of this modern home, which was designed by local architect Marc Soloway.

Soloway’s designs are characterized by unique curves and angles on the interior, like a curved ceiling in the kitchen.

“Sharp lines, crisp corners and eye-catching neutrals give this kitchen its modern vibe,” said Carroll. “Materials also played a big role in establishing style with a mix of sparkling finishes, and a cool, contemporary color scheme keep the space bright and engaging.”

The flat-panel cabinetry doors and sleek hardware unify the mix of wood and stone for a sophisticated touch. Glass-front cabinets add another level of refinement.

Instead of a standard island with a bar, Carroll designed a dining-height niche along the peninsula.

“The layout of this bathroom was definitely unusual,” said Carroll. “Even though complicated twists and turns can inspire creativity, designing around those architectural elements became a challenge.”

Many of the bathroom’s elements had to be custom designed, like these white oak vanities.

Varying shades of gray also inspire tranquility and convey a soft, comfortable feel. Honed limestone countertops, metallic mosaics and custom-made accent tile maintain the balance between light and dark in this bathroom.

The open shelving, its block shape and the suspended sinks make this vanity seem more like a furniture piece.
