Kitchen of the Year
This 414-sq.-ft. renovation includes a kitchen and adjacent wine bar, which designer Lauren Levant says offers a modern yet earthy, softly Scandinavian feel inspired by the farm-to-table lifestyle of the clients, the farm fields and the animals surrounding them.
Kitchen of the Year
The wine bar and seating area is where guests gather for after-dinner drinks, and the dramatic pendants complement the dark custom steel shelving. The silver travertine waterfall bar was inspired by the clients, who wanted to do something striking with a natural material from their own city.
Kitchen of the Year
“The series of pendant lights over the Island was selected for their nod to the shapes of earthenware vessels, which felt at home in a modern farmhouse kitchen,” said Levant. “The matte-black and hammered-metal finishes provide an impactful contrast in profile against the light of the windows and shimmering glass walls.”

Bathroom of the Year
“The clients craved a clean, sophisticated and visually beautiful room that made the most of the square footage for storage and showering, while creating a sense of airiness and positive energy,” said Lauren Levant, who renovated the bathroom with designer Paul Bentham.

The new shower features an integrated ledge for storage that disappears into the minimalistic Asian tile design.
Bathroom of the Year
The sizable vanity was too heavy to hang on the wall, so it is supported by a shallow-framed knee wall clad in the same tile as wall behind it.

Showroom of the Year/Best Use of Color
The new Drummonds showroom in New York City needed to display the brand’s history and its identity as a classic bathroom product company. Creative director James Lentaigne started with this long and narrow space, which is ideal for expressing the “journey” clients experience as they walk through the showroom.
Showroom of the Year/Best Use of Color
More than 10 vignettes are placed around the showroom. With hand-painted wallpaper and unique tiles as backdrops, these vignettes each showcase a different vanity, mirror and accessory collection.
Showroom of the Year/Best Use of Color
Contrasting colors and patterns are used throughout to show how different textures and backgrounds can work with the products. One vanity with a crisscross tile pattern uses a mix of gray tiles with a black marble countertop and brass fittings, while another includes a wallpaper display with a peacock to contrast the simple and classic tones in the vignette’s white vanity.

Best Universal Design
The designer, Jonas Carnemark, installed non-clinical-looking horizontal and vertical grab bars all around the wet room. He says the more, the better, because you never know when you will need them.
Best Universal Design
The new master bath design incorporates wider doorways with seamless thresholds that can be easily rolled over. According to the designer, Low-maintenance LED lighting in and around the medicine cabinet mirrors will provide bright lighting and contract to aging eyes for many years to come.

Second Place Kitchen
Jason Landau and his team selected some darker elements throughout the kitchen, such as the stained wood floor, fireplace cladding and reclaimed barn wood accent walls. The gray quartz countertops complement the property’s plentiful natural rock – fulfilling the client’s wish of melding the indoors with the outdoors.

Second Place Bathroom
Designer Bill Burke was challenged with making this bathroom – originally a dark and small space – into an open, Zen-like oasis. In his redesign, he tricks the eye into believing the room is bigger by having a wall of vertical tile bordering the shower. A freestanding tub and frameless glass panels on either side of the shower enclosure help define this feel.

Designer Jaime Laurita appeals to all budget points in this showroom in the Chicago Merchandise Mart. Before he even began, he went undercover throughout the Merchandise Mart and observed the potential clientele. Then he designed the showroom’s seven vignettes with a specific client in mind.

Best Use of Color – Honorable Mention
The homeowners of this kitchen wanted something eclectic in their redesign; a kitchen with both color and a mix of old and new. Designer Joseph Tsedaka accomplished this through touches like a brick backsplash, a blue painted island and leather-finished gray countertops.
