A highlight of the room, and a client request, is a sculptural freestanding tub oriented toward folding glass doors that connect to an exterior patio. Here, the wife can enjoy views of the sunset or an evening fire while relaxing in a deep soak. Incorporating the tub, noted Brion, required adding much-needed square footage, as “the existing bathroom only had space for a shower.” To make more room, a closet and hallway, as well as an adjacent area, were “absorbed,” and two exterior walls were extended several feet by the architect.
