GE Announces the Opening of its First Display Design Competition

December 16, 2013

GE’s 2014 Kitchen Display Design Competition website recently went live. The company's inaugural competition challenges each entrant to use its high-end Monogram appliances in their design, such as the newly announced dishwasher and the French door built-in refrigerator.

Entrants will design a GE Monogram kitchen display for the GE Appliances Global Customer Center, and the first-place winner will receive a $10,000 cash prize and a trip to Louisville, Ky., for the winner’s announcement.

The deadline to submit a kitchen display for consideration is Feb. 14, 2014. To submit, please visit: http://bit.ly/1frgzfn.

The second-place winner will receive $5,000, and the designer who wins third place will receive $2,500. Winners will be chosen by a panel of kitchen designers, industry professionals and GE employees by March 3, 2014.

Rules and Criteria

During the competition, each designer, student or consultant can submit up to two different entries (no payment required) for a contemporary, aspirational kitchen, which will include a design statement and the entrant’s design vision and/or intended target market.

Submissions will be judged on a 100-point scale based on the following criteria:

- Integration of GE Monogram products (30 possible points)

- Aesthetics (30 possible points)

- Functionality of space (20 possible points)

- Design statement (10 possible points)

- Creativity/originality (10 possible points)
