Jim Scott Completes KBIS Repositioning Initiative

July 31, 2013

Alpharetta, GA - KBIS announces that Jim Scott will complete his role as Managing Director, Kitchen and Bath Industry Show effective on July 31, 2013.

“Jim brought his extensive experience and expertise to KBIS, in 2011 to help create an expanded vision and strategy for the KBIS brand. We are pleased with the results and appreciate his commitment to advancing the strong and vibrant position of KBIS in the industry,” said Brian Pagel, vice president, KBIS.

“It was an exciting opportunity to help KBIS and the NKBA look forward and create a positive future for a great brand. By listening to our customers, we have been able to position KBIS as an event and brand that can help the exhibitors and attendees be more successful in an exciting and evolving market,” said Scott.

New areas of focus over the last two years have included generational lifestyle marketing, more opportunities for manufacturer participation, increased audience engagement and active involvement in all major social media channels. Additionally, leveraging the KBIS platform to support the launch of the NKBA KBIS education conference and a new focus on younger kitchen and bath professionals with the “30 Under 30” have helped to build new skills and introduce fresh perspectives to the market. The KBIS brand is becoming a year-round platform for innovative, inspired thinking supporting the kitchen and bath segment.

A highlight of the work completed over the period was the decision by the NKBA and NAHB to co-locate KBIS and IBS in 2014 under the new banner Design and Construction Week.

“Jim’s insights and his understanding of the kitchen & bath industry have been critical to our ability to bring strong vision to the KBIS platform. He has helped to position KBIS for the collocation effort and a mega event in Las Vegas during February 2014,” said Bill Darcy, CEO, NKBA.

Scott, retired president of the plumbing products division of Elkay, plans to continue to help others execute positive change strategies that give life to an organization. “Like a great book, it’s hard to stop turning the pages in this industry. I am excited by the continuing opportunity to help others see the future first.”
