Kitchen and Bath Design Competition Winners Announced

The National Kitchen & Bath Association has named the eight winners of the 2009/2010 NKBA Student Design Competition, which offers $10,000 in scholarships. The awards will be presented at this year’s Kitchen & Bath Industry Show in Chicago.

Sponsored by Sub-Zero, Wolf and Waypoint Living Spaces, the student competition challenged young designers to create safe, functional spaces while adding modern conveniences and maintaining the historic ambiance of a 1910 Arts and Crafts “Shingle House” located in the Pacific Northwest. The following winners were chosen out of hundreds of entries.

In the kitchen category, the first-place award was given to Hillaree Harris, of Brigham Young University; second place was awarded to Clarisse McCann, also of Brigham Young University; third place was given to Piper Walters, of Dakota County Technical College, and honorable mention went to Lisa Lally, of East Carolina University.

In the bathroom category, first place was given to Clarisse McCann, of Brigham Young University; the second-place award went to Lisa Womach, of West Valley College; third place was awarded to Teresa Simon, of Lakeland College, and the honorable mention winner was Sophia Hebener, of Arapahoe Community College, in Littleton, CO.
