Register For Nationwide Job Shadowing Program Today!

August 09, 2010

RealWorld DesignWeek (RWDW), the annual nationwide job-shadowing program created by the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), has opened registration. Interior designers can sign up as mentors to ASID student members to take part in one-day job shadow experiences.

RealWorld DesignWeek is a national program aimed at educating future interior designers through in-person experience. It was created to help students succeed in the industry and build relationships with the design community, providing them with the tools to jump-start their careers.

“My teachers tell me all the time about the specifications, but until today I didn’t realize how massive it can all be,” said Alisen Williams, student member, about her 2009 RWDW experience.

“It is important for practitioners to understand how easy it is to work a student visit into your schedule,” said Deborah Lloyd Forrest, FASID, principal of Forrest Perkins. “Students just want to understand a little bit better what a firm accomplishes in a day or a week or a month, and any insight we can give them into that process is very welcome and appreciated.”
