InSinkErator Announces Winner of Taste of Vegas Recipe Contest

March 29, 2016

InSinkErator has announced Crystal Schlueter of Northglenn, Colo., winner of the company’s recent recipe contest, which highlighted the usefulness of InSinkErator hot water dispensing products in food and drink preparation. The contest was launched in conjunction with the company’s Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS) 2016 Taste of Vegas campaign in partnership with acclaimed Las Vegas Chef Johnny Church.

Schlueter wins a trip for two to Las Vegas, including flight, three nights at Wynn, a private dinner prepared and hosted by Chef Church and a night tour of The Strip.

“The volume of submitted recipes highlighted how often hot water is used in modern cooking,” said Chef Church. “Everything from shrimp tacos to cheese puffs incorporates hot water. Crystal’s recipe stood out from the rest because of the sophisticated blending of flavors and unique implementation of a wide range of ingredients.”

Nearly 500 recipes were submitted to the contest for which the chief requirement was that hot water be used during preparation.  A panel of judges selected the top three recipes from the hundreds submitted, based on creativity and ease of preparation.  Chef Church then prepared each of the three and selected The Grand Prize winning recipe – Pineapple Shrimp Tacos with Honeydew Jicama Slaw – based on overall taste and appearance.

“We were amazed by the response to the contest from both our customers and the public at large and the creativeness in the recipes,” said Joe Maiale, vice president of wholesale sales, InSinkErator. “But innovation in the kitchen is central to what we do so it’s only natural it’s been reflected back to us. Just wait until you see them.”

InSinkErator plans to feature recipes on its Facebook page through 2016 to showcase the variety of ingredients and food preparation techniques that cooks across the country submitted.
