Custom Cupboards Announces New Name

April 15, 2016

Custom Cupboards, Inc., a mainstay in the cabinetry manufacturing industry for 35 years, has changed its name to R.D. Henry & Company, LLC and plans to transition ownership from its founders to its two top leaders in the next few years. The new name is in honor of the brothers, Ron and Dan Henry, who started the business with one pick-up truck in 1981. Today the company employs more than 200 people and provides cabinets to a network of dealers in 37 states.

“This is a proud day for our company,” said Mael Hernandez, CEO and president for the newly named R.D. Henry & Company. “With the legacy of the Henry brothers, we have a strong foundation, and we’ve been building on that together for the last few years, to position the company for continued growth and a future that honors them.”

Ron and Dan Henry plan to transition ownership to Hernandez and Chris Flickinger during the next few years. Hernandez has been with Custom Cupboards for six years, and Flickinger has served as CFO for eight years.

“This has been part of a succession plan that allows continued local ownership, which is important to the Henrys,” Hernandez said.

The brothers, who prefer to stay out of the public part of the business, will continue to be involved in strategic business decisions. Day-to-day operations will continue to be run by Hernandez and Flickinger, as they have been for several years.

“We believe this is the best possible news for our employees, our vendors and our customers,” Flickinger said. “We are a known entity with plans to invest in the business and continue the legacy.” The company will continue to focus on innovation, flexibility, lean manufacturing, design, quality and value. “Those are the hallmarks of our success, and our focus will be to continue to build on them,” he said.

Details of the sale price or terms of the transition are not being released.

Bill Gardner of Gardner Design has been selected to lead the development of a new logo. Full integration of the new logo, from signs to sales and marketing materials, will take place during the next few months.
