January 22, 2015
Poggenpohl created a contemporary kitchen design for the newly renovated De Gustibus Cooking School by Miele in New York City. De Gustibus reopens for its 35th anniversary with a fully transformed classroom and operational kitchen that mixes a professional chef’s work environment with an intimate and inviting atmosphere.
Poggenpohl’s cabinetry and shelving selections were designed to offer warmth and style, while providing innovative ways to maximize space. The kitchen design includes glare-free, matte backdrops to prevent distraction and storage solutions to amplify organization and collaboration amongst students and chefs.
“Poggenpohl stands at the forefront of creating luxurious, state-of-the-art kitchens and our design for the De Gustibus Cooking School embodies just that,” said Roger Zierman, designer and showroom manager for Poggenpohl Downtown in New York “Every detail of this kitchen was carefully crafted to encourage enjoyable interaction. We want to inspire students and chefs to enjoy new culinary experiences whilst providing a highly advanced, ergonomic and hands-on work space.”
For over 20 years, De Gustibus has showcased Miele appliances throughout the school, including ovens, warming drawers, cooktops, refrigeration and wine storage. BLANCO provided SteelArt sinks and professional faucets, while bathroom fixtures came from the Kartell by Laufen collection. The ceramic floor and wall tiles were by Roca Tile, a Tile of Spain manufacturer.
