Other than designing with the company’s product, the requirements were for recently completed, well-photographed designs. Visual appeal, creativity, innovation, design elements/principles, design statement and a unique design were also a part of the requirements. Kitchen, bath and showroom entries were all acceptable.

The top three Grand Prize Winners include:

Wendy Manley, Waterview Kitchens, Tequesta, Fla.

In this gourmet chef’s kitchen, waterfront views pair with walnut inset cabinetry in an open-plan layout. The design of this L-shaped space, with a center, square sink-island plus a 20-ft. seating island, allows for multiple workstations, work triangles and place to host.

Mary Adams, Kitchen Cove Cabinetry & Design, Portland, Maine

This kitchen was designed to take advantage of the 180-degree view of Casco Bay in Maine. To solve the dilemma of the scale of the island, the team created a Hickory furniture piece to hold the prep sink and serve as a focal point for the living and dining area.

Tina Rodda, Kitchen Cove Cabinetry & Design, Portland, Maine

When one couple chose to build their dream home on Maine’s Bailey Island, they wanted a kitchen that would balance the grand fireplace on the opposite wall and reflect the ocean views. In the end, the aesthetics express the opposing extremes with white and stainless steel cabinets and countertops and a stone backsplash.
