March 9, 2015

Regina Sturrock, founder of Burlington, Ontario-based interior design firm Regina Sturrock Design Inc., has won Perlick’s recent #PerlickDesignChallenge. Perlick partnered with Modenus, a comprehensive digital resource for design professionals, for the #PerlickDesignChallenge “Chilling Below” contest where design professionals were asked to upload their most creative design idea that included undercounter refrigeration to Perlick Residential’s Facebook page.

The five most popular designs, determined by public vote, were displayed in a gallery at Perlick’s booth during the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) where they were judged by a panel of five industry experts, including K+BB Executive Editor, Chelsie Butler; Rebecca Thienes, marketing editor of Interior Design; Stacy Garcia, kitchen designer and founder of #kbtribechat; Veronika Miller, founder and editor-in-chief of Modenus; and Brandon A. Smith, LEED AP, principal editor of DCoop Media and theTwentySIX.

Regina Sturrock’s winning design submission for #PerlickDesignChallenge “Chilling Below” features Perlick undercounter refrigeration specified in a vibrant and functional mudroom.

“Our mudroom design anchors a family’s busy lifestyle,” said Sturrock. “In fact, this design was developed around the needs and wants of a real client, so it was infused with not only the ‘real’ functional requirements but also with some distinctive personality.”

The mudroom, a transition space into the home, is lined with storage from floor to ceiling, including closed coat storage and opened cubbies as well as storage nooks for each family member. The Perlick 18-in. Shallow Depth Beverage Centre is incorporated inside the island along with a built-in settee and drawers on one side and open storage on the other, making last-minute essentials conveniently accessible before running out the door.

“Infusing the space with fresh and vibrant accent really sets this one apart,” she added. “Most importantly, I feel that this space appeals to a broad spectrum of people. We all look for maximized organization and a bright and high-function space, which helps to ease the daily stresses and is most appealing.”

Regina Sturrock Design is now in its 19th year and has been honored as part of the SBID International Design Excellence Awards. Sturrock leads a team of five design professionals with strong backgrounds in architecture and custom millwork design and focuses on customization in each of her designs.
