BLANCO, the German manufacturer of sinks and faucets, has announced the three winners of the #BLANCODreamKitchen Design Contest, which took place last month. After sifting through dozens of designs, BLANCO and a panel of design professionals chose one first-place winner – Florida designer Marilyn Russell to win the $1,000 grand prize – along with two runners-up, Milwaukee designer Lila Guizado and Philadelphia designer Mick Ricereto.

The #BLANCODreamKitchen Design Contest began in mid-September and ended October 16th. The contest encouraged designers to submit an original hand or digital drawing of their dream kitchen featuring the BLANCO PRECIS Medium Single Sink with Drainer and BLANCO CULINA Mini Faucet.

“There were so many beautiful dimensional drawings submitted, we had a hard time choosing three winners in our first #BLANCODreamKitchen Contest,” said Christy Emens, marketing manager for BLANCO. “We have to appreciate the effort that went into designing dream kitchens, which made our job on the panel so difficult. We selected the winners based on their overall kitchen design, plus the placement and use of the [required products]. In the end, we also picked the kitchens that exemplified what a dream kitchen stands for in our minds – beauty, functionality and inspiration; a kitchen we wished we could live and work in ourselves.”

First Place: Marilyn Russell

This lofty, colorful kitchen features an open-planned venue for the entertainer and guests. Complementing the BLANCO PRECIS Sink and CULINA faucet are elements saturated in texture, such as the rich wood columns, ceiling beams, wood tile flooring and brick wall. The multi-colored porcelain tile and blue island create an inviting spirit.

Runners Up
Lila Guizado

“My dream kitchen would be an open and bright, clean white space. To create a statement, I designed a color pop backslash behind the oven with an opening for spices. In addition, there is a large skylight flooding the kitchen with light and giving the ceiling more depth. Finally, to contrast the light cabinetry, I paired it with dark wood flooring and the BLANCO PRECIS medium single sink with drainer along with the CULINA mini faucet. This modern kitchen design boasts Euro-style cabinets and a white palette, which shows off the view. An artsy chandelier and warm wood cabinets on one wall warm up the space.
