Duravit to Host 2nd-Annual Designer Dream Bath Competition

June 3, 2014

Duravit USA’s launch of the Design Dream Bath Competition was such a success in 2013 – the company is going for round two. The program invites architects and designers to create their ideal bath space using a selection of Duravit collections, which include

Vero, DuraStyle and Happy D.2.

Last year’s winning project (pictured above) was by Canadian architect Nicolas Koff, who won the Duravit items he used in his project up to a value of $15,000 – the same prize being offered this year. Koff was selected by the judges because of his focus on being environmentally friendly and through his use of universal design elements. Honorable Mentions went to Alberto Mizuno and Esteban Cruces of ALBERTO/ESTEBAN and Roberto Deseda of lowercase.

Participants in the competition are asked to use their own bathroom as a basis for their designs and must submit a rendering or sketch (at least two views) and a floor plan illustrating the potential transformation using the Duravit products. A “before” image is required, as well as information on challenges, objectives and project details.

The Vero collection

The collections included in this year’s competition include Vero, a sleek, rectangular line that now features furniture, LED lighting, Bluetooth integration, front-facing towel racks and six finishes. Happy D.2 – created by Sieger Design – features the company’s signature “D” shape in its bathtubs and ceramics. The collection offers a new linen finish and LED-illuminated cabinets, as well as 13 bathtubs, 12 washbasins and new toilet, bidet and cabinet styles.

DuraStyle, designed by Matteo-Thun, allows for a variety of custom combinations through its range of washbasins, mirrors, bidets, furniture, bathtubs and rimless toilets.
