Winning Plate by Lauren Rottet

Founding principal and president of Rottet Studio, Lauren Rottet won Legrand’s nationawide design competition and has been named 2014 Guest Designer for the company’s Adorne Collection of custom wall plates. Rottet’s plate, which features a pattern of beveled diamonds on a white surface through 3D printing technology, was chosen as the winning design out of more than 200 submissions.

The competition, which was a partnership between Legrand and ASID, asked architects and interior designers to create an original, custom wall plate for Legrand’s Adorne Collection for the chance to design three wall plates that will be for sale in 2014. Aside from the first-place winner, there were four finalists, including Kerrie Kelly, Ellen Carey, Antonio Rodrigues and Emily Lurker.

Judging also included a popular vote via social media, and criteria included creativity and overall appeal. All of the contest’s wall plates were featured in a one-night-only exhibition on November 6 in New York City titled, “Light Your Imagination,” and the contest raised $10,000 for the ASID Foundation, donated by Legrand.
