Thermador’s new Freedom induction cooktop offers the flexibility of a natural-mapping user interface that recognizes cookware size, shape and position to deliver heat without boundaries. Home chefs can place their cookware, including specially shaped items such as griddles and oval-shaped pans, anywhere on the appliance’s surface. To ensure precise temperature control, the unit is built with 48 individual 3-in. induction heating elements below the surface. The cooktop surface is made from transparent ceramic glass, allowing for the integration of a color touchscreen that also performs live updates when cookware is moved to a different position. The Thermador Freedom Induction Cooktop will be available July 2012 and will retail for $4,949.

Please note: the Freedom induction cooktop is not featured on the Thermador website at this time.
