Designer Abigail Syltie of Farmers Branch, Texas-based Redstone Kitchens had clients who wanted a minimalist and serene design. She set out to create a modern look that provided both for entertaining and quiet dinners at home.
“We needed to simplify and clean up the overall design,” said Syltie. “We were able to achieve this by providing flat high–gloss doors and light marble countertops to bring in interest.”
One island is mainly for prep work, while the other smaller island holds a wine cooler and is for guests to congregate.
The cabinetry does not have visible hardware; instead they feature a mix of c-channel pulls on the lower cabinets and lift-up mechanisms on the upper cabinets to make the storage accessible.
The base cabinets directly across from the main island are made up of high-gloss doors that almost blend with the white walls. The adjacent wall of tall cabinetry is a custom gray lacquer.
