Two busy CEOs from New York knew that their Haverford, Penn. neighborhood was more traditional, but they wanted something a little more fun and glamorous. “They liked a lot of crystal and shine,” explained designer Ani Semerjian of Devon, Penn.-based Semerjian Interiors, referring to details like the mirrored vanity in this powder bath she designed in the home.
The design of the master bath revolved around the crystal light fixture, which Semerjian says contains gem-like crystals, rather than the traditional teardrop. “It’s my favorite light fixture,” she said. “I’ve used it in every design, including my own.”
The rest of the master bath includes glamorous but unique details like a tile mosaic on the floor and beveled, mirrored cabinetry.
“I fell in love with this tile right away,” said Semerjian of the beveled antique mirrored tile she used in the butler’s pantry. Dark cabinetry and a chandelier made of chains gives the space a luxe, edgy feel.
“The owner did not want crystal light fixtures in the kitchen,” said Semerjian. “But we didn’t want to do the traditional, polished nickel pendants either. So these are made of our individual hand blown glass cylinders.”
A mix of Calacutta gold marble and white and black cabinetry complete a simple but glamorous palette in the kitchen. “It was really fun to have the opportunity to work with somebody that gave me a lot of the control of the design,” said Semerjian. “It is transitional glam.”
