Gathering at the Farmhouse
This massive farmhouse project took a total of three years and was done in phases, with the client acting as her own general contractor. “She really was the lynchpin for all the moving parts of this project,” said designer Amber Carfield with Scottsdale-Ariz.-based Kitchens By Good Guys. The project included the kitchen, primary bath, an expanded butler’s pantry and a multipurpose room with laundry and an office.
At the end of the primary bathroom, the shower and tub areas are enclosed in separate spaces under two matching archways, and they were handled almost entirely by the client and her tile supplier, Mexican Tile and Stone. The subway tiles around the shower and freestanding bath have a beautiful, imperfect look with wavy or dark edges to give them texture and warmth.
“The butler’s pantry created a perfect spot for the coffee bar, along with an ice maker, sink and overflow storage for food items and oversized kitchen appliances,” said the designer, who used 2020 Design to complete the project. “We also incorporated a farmhouse sink, warming drawers, a bar area and a microwave, so it works also as a fully-functioning kitchen when guests are over.”
In the multi-purpose laundry room/office, bright, white inset cabinetry by Greenfield was selected with white quartz countertops by Caesarstone to make the space feel even bigger. The washer and dryer are by LG, the backsplash is Bedrosians Tile and Stone, and the cabinet hardware is from Jeffrey Alexander.
The decorative Wolf range hood, glass uppers with the X mullions, granite countertops by Cactus Stone, farmhouse sink Kohler, statement faucet Waterstone and the handcrafted tile backsplash tie everything together to create a farmhouse appeal.
