Two homeowners looked to designer Chantal Devane of Eden Prairie, Minn.-based Devane Design to transform their dated and dysfunctional bathroom into a place they can hopefully live for the rest of their lives.

Rollouts under the sink area allow for easy storage access, and a drawer below the sink doors offers additional storage.

What used to be the shower became part of an extended vanity. The previous bathtub area now is an expansive shower.

The arch over the top of the shower is meant to give the bath an inviting tone.

The vine accents were added when the female homeowner told Devane how much she appreciated nature elements in her décor.

At first, the clients were uncertain about the large size of the shower. When Devane explained the benefits – like the ability to accommodate a walker or wheelchair – they agreed.

“We opted to use a matte marble in the shower area and on the main floor,” said Devane. “Marble is also a timeless material, in my opinion, so they will enjoy this look for years to come without coming up against future trends. The color is very adaptable to many different color schemes.”

“I loved being able to achieve a beautiful and elegant space that didn’t scream ‘universal design,’” said Devane. “Personalizing the space by using a blue paint at the client’s request also made it unique and specific to them.”
