The original kitchen was dated; overhead cabinets topped a peninsula, blocking both space and sightlines; the island was undersized and a walled-in pantry was thoughtlessly situated in a corner. Nar Design Group‘s new pantry is an 8-ft.-long expanse of 9-in.-deep tall cabinets that provide full access to their contents.

Between the range and the refrigerator, a 4-ft. sink provides space for two people to work simultaneously on cleaning or prep tasks, helping keep the island clear and clean. It’s fitted with a 12-in. dry dock, which further frees up the basin.

To create a cohesive look, the backsplash on the range wall was fabricated from the same material used for the countertops. A slab was cut into 6-in. by 12-in. tiles that were laid in a herringbone pattern with fawn-colored grout to make it pop.

At the bar area, a steel-fronted tambour door keeps small appliances from cluttering the counters. A professional-grade double oven located near the outer boundary of the room gives the kitchen the capacity to host cookie-baking parties with comfort and convenience.
