One Ormond Beach, Fla., client wanted a kitchen where he could fully enjoy his homegrown ingredients. For the subtle, coastal feel he wanted, he turned to designer Chris Druschel of Winter Park, Fla.-based S & W Kitchens.
“I wanted to de-clutter the kitchen and make it feel even bigger and not necessarily the center of attention,” said Druschel. “I achieved this by using a cool blue tone and a slab cabinet door design.”
Druschel was limited to the same footprint, as they could not replace the existing flooring or add to it. He was however able to move all the appliances so they are all within arm’s length.
The center island was enlarged, and the cabinets went 18 inches higher than the previous ones. For additional storage, the design team also used several triple drawer bases.
A 30-in. fridge and a 30-in. freezer side by side make a bold statement with their 5-ft. by 7-ft. stainless steel exterior.
A stainless floating shelf highlights the prep/bar area of the kitchen.
Every single top cabinet has a German antique glass face with interior lighting.
All of the appliances – except the natural gas cooktop – are powered by solar panels on the roof.
