In addition to the centerpiece range/hood combination, the kitchen features a spice drawer, pullout drawers for pots and pans and a four-seater island to serve family and guests. A 7-in.-thick butcher’s block made of natural walnut sits on a walnut furniture base cabinet.
Elizabeth Nairn, Pepper Pike, Ohio-based Cabinet-S-Top
This bright, white kitchen with clean lines and ample storage was designed for the home of Mary Rosenberg Interiors. Many of the appliances are hidden behind a cabinet front, including the microwave, toaster oven, warming drawer and refrigerator. The kitchen features two islands, an induction cooktop and quartz countertops. According to Nairn, being able to choose the yellow color for the BlueStar electric ovens was central to achieving the desired look.
Joseph Giorgi, Giorgi Kitchens & Designs, Newark, Del.
Giorgi’s aim was to design a kitchen worthy of the homeowners’ baking expertise. He says countertop finishes are becoming a large part of the design in today’s kitchens. He chose Black Absolute for the perimeter countertops, which feature a brushed finish to mimic soapstone. The baking center and hutch are covered in Lagos Azul quartz with a polished finish, and the island is in Corteccia quartzite with a honed finish. The designer chose a 48-in. BlueStar Platinum Range for this kitchen.
“With two ovens and eight burners, they can create for an intimate get together or a large gathering,” he added. “A BlueStar electric wall oven gives added baking capability, and who can’t use a built-in pizza stone.”
Jordan Iverson, Eugene-Ore.-based Jordan Iverson Signature Homes
This kitchen features a rustic modern style that mixes well with the owners’ furniture and art collection from around the world. Iverson used organic, reclaimed materials in his design, including a salvaged elm wood island top as the centerpiece. He chose a cloudy, blue gray color for the island to contrast the pure white outer cabinets. According to the designer, the owner was absolutely set on a BlueStar range. He and his team chose everything around it to complement it and also keep the large size in scale with the rest of the kitchen remodel.
Jessica Smith of Mentecito, Calif.-based JRSID designed this crisp white kitchen with a smaller footprint and open shelving.
