Set on the Aqua Hedionda Lagoon in San Marcos, Calif., the goal of this kitchen design was to not only take advantage of the view but also to bring in the bold tastes of the clients.
Before the redesign, the kitchen’s high ceilings but enclosing walls disregarded the outside view of the lagoon.
Designers Barbara Preston and Nora Bloomfield started the design with the island, which is topped by a 9-1/2 ft.-long piece of Dekton for a dramatic centerpiece.
The storm gray cabinets in the island contrast the white around the perimeter, which emphasizes the tall ceilings.
The perimeter quartz countertops mimic a darker soapstone with subtle white veining, complementing the island countertops.
A LeRoy Neiman painting inspired the pendants over the island.
The glass tile backsplash creates a second focal point in the kitchen and adds a little sparkle to the overall design.
