An empty–nester couple wanted their Cleveland, Ohio, new build to be contemporary but welcoming for entertaining friends and having their daughters home for the holidays.
Designer Jill Calo of Chardon, Ohio-based Payne & Payne Renovations & Design drew inspiration from the area’s industrial roots for warm touches in the modern space.
“I love the dual waterfall island that allows them to entertain in the kitchen while also cooking,” said Calo.
The stone wall in the living area across from the kitchen includes a variety of different elements and textures. There are metal stairs, wood floors, glass glove lighting hung at random heights, and the recessed wood shelves were designed to be inline with the angle of the stairs.
The master bathroom includes separate spaces for the wife and husband, but both areas have cohesive design schemes.
Her side features more texture, including a stacked natural stone deck and a glass tile backsplash.
His side is more streamlined, with taupe porcelain tile covering the floors and all of the shower walls.
