Orlando-based architect Michael Wenrich and Longwood, Fla.-based designer Krista Agapito of S&W Kitchens teamed up to design this open, modern kitchen for meticulous clients. The design had to be open and bright with nothing to take away from the high windows and bright sunlight.
“The clients wanted to achieve the ultimate in modern design, so we opted for a handle-less kitchen by incorporating touch latches on all doors,” said Agapito.
One challenge was the clients’ request for a completely hidden push-in pantry door with no visible hardware. Agapito customized the cabinetry so that the self-close door to a walk-in pantry is completely integrated with the rest of the kitchen.
The island cabinetry is all touch to open, from doors to drawers. Even the dishwasher is lacking hardware, making it near impossible to spot.
An elaborate and embellished white-and-sky blue glass accent chandelier planned for the dining room became the inspiration for the kitchen color palette.
The espresso bar features lift-up doors with floating base cabinetry.
“I really enjoyed integrating the clients’ existing black and brass La Corneau range and their elaborate dining room light fixture into our design,” said Agapito. “These personal elements − and the tie in with our sky-blue coloring − ensure this truly is a one of a kind space.”
