This formerly traditional kitchen needed to fit a homeowner’s love of cooking and the French Art Deco look. Designer Steven Cooper of West Hollywood, Calif.-based Cooper Pacific Kitchens was challenged to provide a high-functioning layout and a modern take on her preferred style.
“To hint toward French Art Deco without creating a ‘themed’ kitchen, we used period-specific materials and married them with a fresh color scheme,” said Cooper. “Our client has exquisite taste and knew she wanted a refined space in terms of design details and materials.”
The countertops and the backsplash are both made of a natural quartzite, which is both durable and luxurious.
Following in line with the French Art Deco design inspiration, the cabinets were created to highlight elements of mixed materials, including custom brass trim frame details, shagreen leather and antiqued mirrors.
The island boasts a custom furniture appeal with angled posts and a countertop cut to fit the detailing.
“Softening the cabinets against the boldness of the floor and large black French doors on the range gives the space an elevated feeling,” said Cooper.
