This 120-year-old William Lightfoot Price-designed home in Wayne, Pa. began as a tiny servant’s quarter and evolved into an old-meets-new family kitchen.
Designed by Denise Taylor of Havertown, Pa.-based Sterling Kitchen & Bath, much of the kitchen’s character comes from the home’s multitude of quarter-sawn oak.
The quarter-sawn oak cabinets, done in a slab-style door with contemporary handles, respect the home’s character while keeping it up to date.
To keep the island seamless, a live slab edge contrasts with the soapstone countertop and connects to the live edge kitchen table.
A pop-up receptacle in the countertop fills the requirement for a power outlet in the island.
Large, subway-style, slate floor tiles keep the kitchen looking historical with elegance.
Old barn doors on rollers complement the exposed brick walls and wooden touches.
