This coastal Florida home had the advantage of seaside views and living areas with cathedral-height ceilings, but the kitchen was dark, dated and secluded from the rest of the house.
Before the redesign, this kitchen had limited storage, minimal countertop space and old appliances. Now it has plenty of room for entertaining friends and family.
Designer Thomas Kelly of Nokomis, Fla.-based TRK Designs took advantage of the home’s open areas by completely moving the kitchen into the living/dining area.
The new kitchen now features a large, single-level, eat-in island, Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances and room for food prep and entertaining.
The cathedral ceiling was overpowering for the space, so the team created a bridge over the island the break things up. This also provided room to add HVAC and lighting.
