Since this was the client’s childhood home, the renovations needed to take the house’s original style and take it to the 21st century. Designer Nar Bustamante of Carmichael, Calif.-based Nar Design Group took on this challenge.
According to Bustamante, working with the Dekton countertops in this context – using all miter edging – was a monumental task that required the utmost skill and patience from one the best fabricators.
The dramatic chandelier above the dining table, as well as the streamlined features in the island, complete the mid-century look of this kitchen space.
An accessory to the principle kitchen, the butler’s pantry adds to the kitchen’s storage capability and acts as a helpful place to hide messes during hosting.
In the laundry room, the design team designed the space with cabinetry above the front-load washer and dryer, as well as a space for hanging clothes. A bench with storage underneath serves as a table for the cat food and water, while a recessed tile area across the room creates the perfect place for a litter box.
The powder room includes a frosted, five-panel glass door to enclose the space with drama and layers of texture.
The simplicity of the wall-hung water closet keeps from taking away from the bold wallpaper application.
“For the master bath, we created a frosted–glass partition with a built-in medicine cabinet on one side and a magazine cabinet on the water closet side,” said Bustamante.
