Set across the road from the vice presidential mansion, this home gave designers David Shore-Brown and Ryan Petyak of Washington, D.C.-based Studio3877 the opportunity to bring a historic home into the modern real estate market.
By removing a mason wall, the kitchen’s enclosed space was opened to the family and dining rooms and remained for the most part in the same footprint.
The redesign adopts a light, contemporary tone with Carrera marble counters, subway tile and white-painted cabinetry.
An island and a peninsula were added for additional counter space.
In the newly built master bath, the small footprint required some creative solutions—including reconstructing a single vanity unit into a double.
A light stone tile swathes the walls in a neutral tone meant for any taste in style.
