Room for More
Before its redesign, this kitchen was too outdated and dysfunctional for an avid host and dog lover. Designer Jaclyn Joslin of Kansas City, Mo.-based Coveted Home worked to create a budget-friendly design that would make the client’s kitchen more efficient.
Behind the stove lies a new walk-in pantry and laundry room. This addition helped streamline the cabinetry and free up space to de-clutter the kitchen.
The original flow of the kitchen worked for the homeowners’ needs and the budget restraints, so the design team’s improvements were mainly cosmetic and refining.
“My favorite part is how we continued the backsplash to the ceiling above the sink and at the bar area,” said Joslin. “Previously the only area with a backsplash was behind the stove.”
“[My client and I] both loved the look and price point of the West Elm light fixture,” said Joslin, in reference to the chandelier in the dining area. “It has just enough whimsy but still looks high end.”
