Designer Jane Cunningham of Las Vegas-based Room Resolutions faced the challenge of designing a kitchen for a young family, who needed a child-friendly space that would still be current in years to come.
For a fresh, white kitchen, Cunningham refinished the cabinetry with a glaze that has a touch of gray in it, which she says helps with grounding the space and also keeping it open and clean.
“For a more modern look, selecting a linear design made of glass and stainless steel accents keeps the kitchen updated and yet forward thinking for years to come,” said Cunningham, in reference to the backsplash. “Also – it’s quite easy to just wipe clean.”
“The pendant lights add a ‘kiss’ to the overall design; they look like a Hershey’s Kiss candy,” said Cunningham.
Hidden qualities of the kitchen include a magnetic locking system on the cabinets that hold detergents and cleaning supplies, as well as a special drawer just for plastic cups and plates for a child to use.
