With or without the current global pandemic, outdoor kitchens are on the rise. Designer Chris Dreith of Woodland, Calif.-based The Home Improvements Group created this space – as well as the corresponding indoor kitchen – to enhance the flow and appeal of both areas.
The outdoor kitchen is complete with a grill, a pizza oven, a sink and faucet, along with a backdrop of wood-look stone tile.
The patio cover is built in three sections, each with remote control levers that open and close. The cover is deep enough to block hot summer sun, but since the levers can open, the cover can also allow winter sun to warm the space.
The indoor kitchen was opened up to the outdoor area with a wider patio door and new, energy-efficient windows that help control the temperature in the home.
The design team had previously built a wine storage wall for the client years before the kitchen renovation. The same door style and wood species and stain was used for the base and tall cabinets in the kitchen so the wine storage unit could fit into the new design.
A quartz countertop was used for the island countertop with an undercounter heating system, which was a priority for the clients from the beginning.
The kitchen is further brightened up by white subway tile and undercabinet lighting.
