Bruce Wentworth, AIA, president of Wentworth Inc. in Chevy Chase, Md., redesigned the third-floor unit in a renovated building.
The double-height living/dining/kitchen space is complemented by 9-ft. windows.
The design team took advantage of empty vertical space to create the statement the homeowners desired.
The previous design left the builder-grade kitchen feeling disjointed with the rest of the space.
An existing foyer closet was given a custom fit-out so that half could house wine storage (this part shown) and the other could accommodate cleaning supplies.

The exposed wall surface in the condo kitchen features glass subway tile.
“When kitchens are open plan like this one, homeowners like the upscale feeling of stained wood since it feels more like furniture,” explained Wentworth.
