The Expressions Home Gallery opened recently in Southlake, Texas, with the goal of catering to the local population with an uncluttered and logically laid out space. Designed by Jayme Adams, manager of showroom development for the gallery, the space was designed with elements that are easy to change out and update according to new trends.
Upon entering the gallery, the first displays customers encounter are bath and plumbing products. “The first thing that goes into a house is plumbing, so walking in and seeing that first is important in the chronological order of how you build your house,” said Adams.
Some displays pair similar items together against the same backdrop for easy comparison.
Other displays lay out a kitchen or bath in a certain style to showcase how the products can be used in context.
As shown by the research done by the design team, this transitional look – with stainless steel finishes and mosaic backsplashes – is most popular with local clientele.
Outdoor kitchen products cater to the warm Texas climate and the trend toward outdoor living.
“There is always a challenge when designing a showroom to make sure you are using elements that are simple to switch out and blending in the local market style,” said Adams. “The way we overcome this challenge is to look at Pinterest boards of local designers as well as consulting local vendors about trends they see in the market.”
“We created a clear line of sight for the customer by mixing wall and display heights, as well as ensuring our lighting was not hanging too low so that it doesn’t obstruct our customers’ view of the showroom,” said Adams.
