The Kitchen Encounters showroom is set in a 1950’s–dated Cape Cod house – perfect for the Annapolis, Md., neighborhood in which it is located. Owner and designer Mark T. White CMKBD utilized the small room inside to his advantage to showcase how small spaces can best be designed.
The goal of the redesign was to install up-to-date vignettes that show current options and keeping eventual reuse and sale in mind.
“Some areas were designed with hand drafting and some with AutoCad,” said White. “The design concepts were first sketched by hand for more free–flowing creativity.”
Each room showcases both modern and traditional offerings from a specific cabinet manufacturer.
Glass doors and larger windows allow for more natural light in the space.
One room juxtaposes modern cabinetry on one side against a European country kitchen display on the other side.
Combined, the European country kitchen display and its modern counterpart make up a fully functional kitchen.
The room for client meetings is equipped with a gas fireplace, a Nespresso machine and a wide-screen TV. Large windows let in more natural light for a home-like, relaxing ambiance.
