In the heart of Washington, D.C., a newlywed couple faced a common problem: where in their tiny kitchen to put all of their wedding presents, which were mostly dishware and appliances. Designer Melissa Cooley of Bethesda, Md.-based Case Design/Remodeling came to the rescue with ideas of how to best use the limited space.
The first solution was installing small-space appliances, like this 30-in. range and microwave.
The brick backsplash is original to the home and helps showcase the character the clients wanted.
Made out of the same cabinetry as the kitchen, this bookshelf connects the living area with the kitchen.
By creating a bench on side of the kitchen and a glass overhang on the other, Cooley introduced more seating, an area of social gathering and additional storage.
Marble countertops and white cabinetry establish a more traditional feel for the kitchen.
Even though it’s a small space, the master bathroom boasts marble countertops, a new modern bathtub and a rainhead.
