What’s New in Global Design
Six new finish offerings are now available from GRAFF, which include or’osa PVD, onyx PVD, gunmetal, gunmetal distressed, unfinished brass and unfinished brushed brass. Onyx PVD, shown here, recalls the color of black onyx for a sophisticated appeal.
HearthCabinet showcased its gray and metallic palette of new fireplaces at this year’s show. The fireplaces do not require a chimney, flue, gas or electricity, so it is easy to create custom units to match any aesthetic, and they can be easily installed virtually anywhere.
Launching this fall, the 24-in. Specialty Speed and Combi Steam Oven from SMEG will include a food-driven menu system that contains 50 automatic programs to guide users through a variety of recipes. Both of the re-engineered ovens now have a 30 percent larger interior cavity space and are coated with SMEG’s EverClean enamel interior, which creates an easy-to-maintain finish.
Design Your Slabs from Fiandre is a tailor-made service where any image or illustration can be applied to large-sized, high-tech ceramic surfaces through inkjet technology. Design Your Slabs are the first technical ceramic slabs on the market to offer personalization with full-blown, high-impact color illustration. The design concept also allows for continuity among interior and exterior spaces.
Maresca Textiles introduced a new range of wallpaper to the trade through showrooms nationwide earlier this year. Designer Kathryn Faull has adapted three of her line’s best-selling patterns into printed metallic grasscloth, type II paper and durable vinyl grounds. The patterns are all designed using paint and block printing techniques that give the wallpapers a hand-painted look.
Designed to celebrate a joyful aesthetic, the Spring 2019 Tempaper Collection was inspired by Eastern travels and uses jewel tones, airy watercolor repeats and simple textures. The wallpaper is self-adhesive, repositionable and removable, is 100 percent made in the U.S.A. and is also lead, phthalate and VOC-free.
Benjamin Moore, along with the Alpha Workshops, has announced the launch of their bespoke wallpaper capsule collection. The Capsule Collection contains five patterns realized in three colorways. Kimono, shown here, projects a graphic floral imprinted atop a matte background. For most of the patterns, it takes a full day to create a single roll.
BOSCH Home Appliances has launched new drying technologies across its dishwasher line. Bosch dishwashers with CrystalDry ensure dishes are perfectly dry by naturally transforming moisture into heat up to 176 degrees. Bosch dishwashers with AutoAir (shown here) have an automatic door feature that slightly opens the dishwasher door after the final drying cycle to release moisture and circulate fresh air.
Fisher & Paykel’s new Classic and Contemporary Freestanding Cookers boast bright chrome-plated, cast-zinc dials to indicate if the oven is on and when it has reached the appropriate temperature. Both cookers have been built with safety in mind with flame failure systems on the gas cooktops and CoolTouch oven doors with cooling systems that are safe to touch from the outside.
JennAir’s new suite of products, RISE, gives consumers the power of modern technology with a more traditional design. In the range tops, each appliance is personalized to match owner preferences and is fully connected with the JennAir digital app. Available in 30-in., 36-in. and 48-in. models, the ranges come with griddle, grill and gas burner options.
The Shokunin Kamado Grill from Kalamazoo Outdoor Gourmet features an 18-in. by 24-in. rectangular grilling area and a stainless-steel exterior. The Shokunin also has a multi-tiered fire grate that can be placed in three different positions depending on the cooking style for even distribution of heat.
Designed by Nina Edwards Anker of NEA Studio, Algae Lamps are made of sheets of algae, which has been molded into translucent cylindrical lamp shades that glow from the interior. The algae pieces can also be grouped into different lengths to form a chandelier.
Sharp’s new Countertop Steam Oven has streamlined controls and three buttons for selecting one of five coking modes: toast, warm, pizza, bake/reheat and broil/grill. A continuous blast of steam eliminates the need for preheating and keeps food moist during cooking.
True Residential introduces new hues to its Build Your True program, including emerald (shown here) and ultra-matte black. Together with hardware options like chrome, copper, brass, gold and pewter, there are now 48 combinations available in both full-size and undercounter units.
The Stepney Pendant Light from Vaughan is defined by its inverted tulip-shaped glass and is suspended from a fixed rod. Shown here in a bronze finish, the pendant light is also available in brass.
Named for the Mojave desert, Mojave Porcelain tile from Artistic Tile has a distressed coloration that evokes the landscape of the American West. The tile is available in four colorways of 24-in. by 24-in. and 24-in. by 48-in. matte large field tiles.
Finished in aged brass, the new Ceres indoor sconce from Modern Forms boasts V-cut seeded crystal columns for a mix of shine and understated elegance. Rated for California Title 24, the sconce is offered in vertical, linear or horizontal configurations and is 18 inches tall and 4.5 inches wide.
PRO refrigeration from Sub-Zero keeps food fresher longer with two separate cooling systems and three temperature zones. A new crisper drawer gives produce its own low temperature, higher humidity environment and NASA-inspired air purification scrubs away ethylene gas (which hastens food spoilage) and removes bacteria, mold and viruses every 20 minutes.
