Deep River Partners Earns Platinum Design Award

April 13, 2020

Deep River Partners received top honors at the Wisconsin Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Design Excellence Awards, held March 12. This French transitional residence in North Milwaukee County earned the Platinum Award for Entire Residence over 3,000 square feet. The traditional inspired home was renovated to incorporate the homeowner’s cleaner, transitional aesthetic, while enhancing the function of the overall living spaces.

The aspirations for this home began shortly after this family of six took residence. Initial updates were desired to modernize the children’s bathrooms, transform the lower level into a family gathering place for games and entertainment, and update and enlarge the Master Suite to match the scale of the home. Through the discovery phase, additional updates were identified to make the entire residence feel like theirs with new finishes, furniture, art and lighting elements.

“The theming of the dining room began with the simple addition of grasscloth wallpaper with a silver metallic backing to compliment the silver chandelier that the homeowners had brought from their previous home,” said designer Natalie Erickson, ASID, Deep River Partners. “Additional design elements were added organically, including the wall panel to match that in the foyer, a new area rug and complimentary window treatments, and finally a new dining table, chairs, and buffet. The end result was a dramatic change from the previous dining room, but these changes really enhanced the home and entertaining experience.”

In the bathroom, the main goal was to find room for both a soaking tub and a separate shower.

“Our design solution was to expand into existing attic space to allow us to divide the bathroom into three parts,” said Erickson. “Separated by arched cased openings to relate to architectural elements of the home, the shower and toilet, vanity, and freestanding tub are functionally divided yet flow beautifully together in this space. The palette of the room creates a relaxing escape, and the faux skylight adds the element of natural light that was missing.”
