Even with current events, the good weather this time of year has us all feeling at least a little more upbeat and positive. So why not reflect this in the heart of the home? To help professionals stay on top of their game, Wren Kitchens has revealed the key summer kitchen trends for 2020.

Natural Inspiration

Embracing nature in the kitchen ticks a lot of boxes, including helping kitchens merge seamlessly with living areas. Wood and wood effect units – in lots of colors – provide harmonious elements, as do timber worktops, backsplashes and open shelves topped with planters. Units with imbedded greenery are in and add interest by combining multiple textures to the space.

The Flextension Kitchen

Today, it is more important than ever to create flexible living spaces for the extended family and enable new ways of living. Kitchen living spaces are working as multi-generational spaces for preparing different group’s meals, cooking, dining alone or in changing groups, socializing, entertaining, working and hobbies.

Surprising Surfaces

It’s all about drama. Opt for heavily marbled worktop patterns – laminate, quartz or granite – metallic or patterned backsplashes or concrete-effect units, floors and laminates to make your project standout. Stone and metal – real or replicated – are the most popular elements.

Take Two

Dual tones goes beyond white plus an alternative color into a world of fabulous combinations of cabinetry colors that can be bold and bright, soothing and serene or fresh and funky.

Double Islands

For twice the style, double islands are now the dream. Go ultra-wide and use one side for prep and the other for dining. Go double length and create a workstation with tons of storage to create a focal point for a flexible living space that meets all the needs of extended family living.
