Top Tech and Décor Trends
December 16, 2018
With everything from voice activation, multi-tasking designs or remote-controlled features, new-to-market appliances are intuitive and showcase personal style. The experts at Ferguson Kitchen, Bath and Lighting Gallery (www.fergusonshowrooms.com) filled us on in some of their favorites.
Talk-to-Me Tech
Voice-activated appliances that easily integrate into the connected home are the newest advancement in terms of technology. Pairing with popular platforms such as Google Home, Alexa and Apple Home Pod, these smart faucets, fans and appliances get things done with the sound of your voice. U Moen Digital Shower lets users operate their shower three ways: by voice, phone and controller. The Kohler Verdera Voice Controlled Mirror with imbedded Amazon allows you to get all the functionality of Amazon Echo, with features like shopping, playing music or receiving traffic updates.
Smoldering Hues
Personalize kitchen appliances in more shades beyond stainless. From a warm, gray to matte black, to shades of pink and rose gold, strong hues are on trend for appliances. Consider the coolness of Miele’s Graphite Line to GE’s newly launched Café brand, the Matte Collection. Customized handles on appliances, hoods, shelving and knobs offer a distinctive, immediate upgrade. Other on-trend options include brushed bronze, brushed stainless, brushed copper, brushed black and rose gold.
No Wine Cellar? Put Wine Everywhere
With convenient access to wine being the new norm, leading appliance makers have increased the amenities and focused on convenience. Sub-Zero recently introduced stylish wine storage with integrated refrigerators and freezer drawers with automatic ice making. Perlick advanced its sleek undercounter models for use throughout the house, and brands like True Residential released panel-ready refrigeration and wine columns in finishes to complement the latest interior trends, such as antique white with warm brass hardware.
Have It All
You can have it all with integrated tech that takes the chore out of routine tasks. The newest addition to the Jenn-Air Connected Suite, the connected dishwasher, allows users to monitor and adjust settings as well as download custom wash cycles through the Jenn-Air app. The Elkay Crosstown Stainless Steel Farmhouse Sink with an interchangeable apron front also provides the flexibility to change the color and material of the apron front on a whim, lending personality to today’s kitchen.
