Compotite Corporation Announces Management Changes

April 27, 2016

Compotite Corporation has announced changes within its top management. Joan M. Hutchins, who has been president and CEO since 1988, has stepped down from that position and will maintain her role as Chairman of the Board. Compotite’s leadership has been passed to her son, Alan, who has assumed the position as of March 21st

Dr. Alan Hutchins becomes the 4th generation family member to take over leadership of Compotite, which was founded by his great-grandfather, Glenn Morthland in 1938. At that time, the company introduced the industry’s very first shower pan membrane.

Dr. Hutchins brings an interesting, highly diversified background to his new post. He earned a Business Management degree from Cornell University ’96, and then later studied at Palmer College of Chiropractic, graduating in 2001.  He owned and operated a successful chiropractic practice in the Hudson Valley of New York for 14-plus years before deciding to get involved in the family business. He has a long history of hands on construction experience including both managing the construction and actually building two of his clinics.

“With each successive generation of management,” said Alan Hutchins, “Compotite has developed new and innovative products for the evolving market. We are excited to be expanding our already comprehensive product line by introducing a new Linear Drain System, Shower Niches & Benches as well as our line of Liquid Applied Waterproofing and Crack Isolation products. This is an exciting time for Compotite. Our business is growing steadily.”
