Arguably in what is one of the most interesting years for developments in new home trends, there has been increased interest in features such as home offices and multi-purpose spaces as they become more important for homeowners.

Fixr.com’s Single Family Homes Trends Report was conducted using a survey along with fellow leading experts from the construction industry. By combining their knowledge and expertise on the latest trends, homeowners and designers get an insight into how to get the best out of home design, and the top ways to stay on-trend going forward.

Some of the key findings from the report are:

• Open floor plans remain the most popular in spite of the pandemic
• Home office prove most in demand along with extra storage when requesting additional space
• Multi purpose space will continue to gain popularity in light of the past year’s events
• More working flexibility is the most common reason for people buying a new home this year
• Millennials are the generation most concerned with having a healthy home
• Ventilation and water quality top the list of priorities for homeowners wanting a healthy home

For this report, Fixr.com surveyed 48 top experts in the home construction industry. Each of the professionals who responded have acquired vast experience and are currently working in the building, remodeling or landscaping fields. To gain a better understanding and inquire about the latest single-family home trends, they were each asked a mix of open-ended and multiple choice questions.
