Samsung Bespoke Line Expands Throughout the Home

June 7, 2022

Samsung Electronics today hosted Bespoke Home 2022, the second annual showcase of Samsung’s Bespoke appliances. This year’s theme is built on the concept of the expansion of space, experience and time working together to provide a home life experience that goes beyond conventional home appliances.

“The positive response from the Bespoke Home event last year showed us our vision for a better home life through inspirational design, customization and intelligent connectivity struck a chord with people around the world,” said JaeSeung Lee, president and head of digital appliances business at Samsung Electronics. “This year, we are excited to build on our vision by offering consumers more ways to be self-expressive, experience the connected services and live more sustainably at home with Bespoke.”

This year, Samsung is offering a more holistic experience by expanding Bespoke throughout the home. Taking center stage in the showcase are updated kitchen and living appliances with stylish colors, updated features and premium finishes. New in this lineup is the global launch of the Bespoke AI washer and dryer as well as the Bespoke kitchen package.

For the European market, the package includes the all-new, AI-powered Bespoke ovens set to launch in the second half of this year. The Bespoke oven offers connected features through the SmartThings app, making cooking simpler and more efficient while delivering delicious results. The AI Pro Cooking can recognize ingredients, optimize the settings accordingly, and monitor the food while it’s cooking to prevent it from being over or undercooked. The Dual Cook Steam feature lets users prepare both healthy steamed dishes and oven-cooked foods using different settings at the same time. In addition, the Sense-to-Open feature conveniently opens the oven door with just a touch allowing for an elegantly and minimal design with a handle-less, flat door. The rest of the package including dishwasher and induction cooktop will be available in the second half of 2022.

Expanding out of the kitchen and into the living space, the new Bespoke AI laundry will be available in the U.S. as well as Europe in July. In the U.S., the Bespoke AI washer, with an impressive 5.3 cubic ft. Ultra Capacity makes it easy to do laundry regardless of load size. AI OptiWash optimizes each wash by using the perfect amount of water and detergent based on how soiled the laundry is, while the Auto Dispense System offers a simple solution to store and dispense detergent automatically. Bespoke AI washers for the U.S. will be available in four colors and materials: Brushed Navy, Brushed Black, Silver Steel and Forest Green.

The Bespoke AI dryer offers advanced AI Optimal Dry which continuously monitors the water content with an enhanced sensor and intelligently optimizes the cycle to dry items thoroughly. It also automatically controls the cycle time and temperature to protect clothes from overheating. In addition, the Advanced Moisture Sensor detects changes in dampness and humidity level to adjust the temperature and dry duration for maximum efficiency. The Smart Dial feature personalizes laundry by recognizing users’ frequently used washing and drying settings. Furthermore, designed to work optimally as a pair, users with both the Bespoke AI washer and dryer can wash, dry and have their garments ready to wear within an hour thanks to the Super Speed Washer and the Super Speed Dry features.

For the European market, the new Bespoke AI washer and dryer will come with Samsung’s latest in energy-saving technologies and eco-conscious functions including AI Ecobubble, AI Wash and SpaceMax.

Also at the event, Samsung highlighted how Bespoke’s designs have been evolving through a variety of design contests, artist collaborations and limited-edition panels, all showcasing truly Bespoke customization services. Samsung collaborated on limited edition panel designs with notable artists including Andy Rementer and Alex Proba, and Samsung is taking personalization to the next level with the recently announced MyBespoke service in the U.S. MyBespoke will offer customers the opportunity to design and create customized, one-of-a-kind Bespoke French Door refrigerator panels using their own original art, prints and photos. Samsung’s MyBespoke custom-printed panels will be available later this year in the U.S..

A Bespoke connected experience go beyond just controlling appliances with an app. It’s about creating personalized connected home experiences using AI-driven technology to make home life more convenient, for individual users. To enhance those capabilities, Samsung is launching SmartThings Home Life this June globally. A connectivity hub that combines six essential home services: Cooking, Energy, Clothing Care, Pet Care, Air Care and Home Care. SmartThings Home Life allows users to customize how their appliances work together based on the services they need.

A commitment to helping the environment has long been at the core of Samsung’s product designs. The latest Bespoke appliances are no exception, all designed with a sustainable product lifecycle in mind from start to finish.

Samsung’s Bespoke appliances are built to be as efficient and ecological as possible. Starting with production, for instance, Samsung strives to prevent soil contamination by minimizing waste generated from factories, including glass fragments. In that vein, Samsung also recycles liquid materials such as waste oil and paint into fuel so they can be used later. In fact, Samsung’s manufacturing facilities for Digital Appliances in Korea achieved an industrial waste recycling rate of 93% in 2019 which increased to 98% in 2021. Samsung will continue to increase the recycling rate going forward.

In terms of product delivery, Samsung is curbing the over-dependence on natural resources by using eco-packaging that consumers can repurpose at home. Samsung is also offering digital manuals through QR codes to reduce the production of paper manuals.

The sustainable features also extend to the products in use. Samsung’s refrigerators use an advanced Digital Inverter Compressor while Samsung washing machines leverage technology like AI Ecobubble. With such innovative technologies, Samsung has been able to cut energy consumption by 67%4 for bottom-mounted refrigerators from 2000 to 2020 and 53%5 for drum type washing machine from 2011 to 2020. The result of these eco-conscious efforts has been recognized with Energy Star certifications. In fact, all front-load washers and dishwashers along with 91% of Samsung refrigerators sold in the U.S. are Energy Star certified. For Samsung users, this means cutting energy costs while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The SmartThings Energy service can also help users save energy by conveniently turning off devices when not in use as well as by adjusting blinds and air conditioners, mitigating energy waste while creating sustainable habits at home.

Finally, with any household appliance, proper disposal at the end of product lifecycles is of the utmost importance throughout the sustainability process. Ensuring longer-lasting home appliances, starting July, Samsung offers a 20-year warranty, the longest offered by Samsung in Europe and the U.S. for key appliance components such as digital inverter motors and digital inverter compressors for Bespoke products. In addition, thanks to Bespoke’s modular designs, users can customize the design of their appliances at home when going for a change, instead of purchasing entirely new ones.
